Members of First Baptist Church
Dublin, Georgia

How to Become a Member

Scripture teaches that the Church is the body of Christ. The head of that body is Jesus Christ.  There is one body of the church made of many members.  The body of Christ is then many local bodies of believers.  The local church is made of many individual believers of diverse backgrounds.  Yet, the Bible teaches that all members of the body are to be one in spirit and in fellowship under the Lordship of one Lord.  The local church is to be united in belief, plan and purpose under the direction of one Spirit.

A believer is described:

as a person who has trusted in Jesus as Savior receiving forgiveness of sin and cleansing of the soul through the blood of Jesus,

after professing their trust in Jesus, by command of Jesus, they are baptized by immersion in water as sign of the death, burial, and resurrection of themselves becoming a new creation in Christ

and after their public testimony of baptism, they are added to the local church.

We accept members into our local church family in one of three ways:

  • By public profession of faith in Christ and after baptism added into the fellowship of the church.

  • By transfer of membership by letter of recommendation from a church in like order and faith.

  • By statement, God being your witness, that you have trusted Christ as your Savior and having been scripturally baptized by immersion in water and you are in full agreement with the belief's and practices of this local church. You are coming with full intention to serve in unity, harmony and fellowship with the other members of this church under the Lordship of Christ.
