Rev. James Williamson

Third Pastor First Baptist Church

James Williamson, third pastor of the church, was a Scotchman, whose brogue added interest to his sermons. He left Glasgow at the age of 17 for Nova Scotia.  Passing to New Orleans he walked overland to Savannah, Georgia, preaching on the way. He taught and preached in Pulaski, Telfair and other counties, was pastor at Evergreen, Hawkinsville and Eastman later on in the century. His descendants live in Dodge and Telfair counties today. James Williamson is buried at Sharon Baptist Church south of Rhine, Georgia.
